Russia will enter Iraqi gas market

Russia is exploring the possibility of expanding the activities of its energy giants Lukoil, Bashi Oil and Gazprom to Iraq's gas sector, which would triple Its investment in the energy-rich country, senior Russian lawmaker Yury Fedorovsaid said On Tuesday.
Speaking at a meeting with Iraq's ambassador to Russia Abdul-Rahman Hamid al-Husseini, Fedorov said: "Our major oil and gas companies, such as Lukoil, Bashi Oil and Gazprom, are operating in your country today. Total investment has exceeded us $10 billion. "We are exploring the possibility of diversifying the activities of the operators of the Russian economy, including linking them to the gas industry."
Fedorov, who serves as deputy chairman of the economic policy committee in Russia's upper house, shared Russia's estimates of future cooperation.
"According to preliminary projections, this could triple our company's investment in your economy," Fedorov added.
